Rabbi Sender Garber

Founder and Director of Beit-Midrash "Or Zarua"

Rabbi Sender Garber's path began in the Soviet Union and led through the Holy Land to Europe. After years of intensive Torah study in Israel, he has devoted his life to Jewish learning and to building communities across Central Europe.

Milestones:

  • Director of Beit-Midrash "Lauder Nordhaus" in Hamburg (Ronald S. Lauder Foundation)

  • Rabbi of the city of Bayreuth, Bavaria

  • Member of the Conference of European Rabbis

  • Founder of the "Morasha" student programme in Munich (Ner Le-Elef Foundation)

  • 2009: founded the "Olami" student programme and the "Or Zarua" yeshiva in Vienna together with Rav Eliyahu Levin (Israel) — with the blessings of Rav Shteinman, Rav Moshe Shapira, the Karlin-Stolin Rebbe and Rav Zevulun Schwartzman

  • Over ten years of the yeshiva's work, hundreds of students received their education here, and many Jewish families grew out of it

  • 2019: founded Beit-Midrash "Or Zarua"

  • Since 2021: member of the Rabbinical Court (Beit Din) of Vienna and Austria

Today Rabbi Garber leads a growing, warm community in the heart of Vienna. Anyone seeking clarity, knowledge and connection is warmly invited to his Torah classes — with all the questions life brings.
